I have several topics today...
1. What do you do about the white spots you can get from the tanning bed? I am so mad! I look like a Dalmation!! I have asked people about it and all they say is, "I have seen that before and it doesn't go away", well that is just great. I have not had a chance to go to the Dr. yet but I will, soon.
2. Aaron (my husband) just got off work and he is resting up for our big costume party tonight. He is just so excited about it. HaHa I think it will be a blast! He looks so funny in his 70's outfit and wig.
3. My neighbor, Mrs. Lucille-- I must say I am very blessed to have such a sweet neighbor. We have lived next to her for 5 months, she has lived there for 60 years. When we got settled in I just had to know who our neighbor was because our houses were so close (and that is the nice thing to do, go meet them). I wasn't to sure about her at first, her yard looked kind of un-kept and so did she. But heck, she is 80 something and she doesn't have a lot of family around to help her. The very next day I was push mowing our yard when I noticed she wasn't at home. I hurried over and mowed her front yard before she got home, it isn't very big and I do not mind helping people. When she got home and realized her yard was mowed, she came right over. I came to the door, and she didn't even let me say hi before she was asking if I knew who mowed her yard. I just stood there with this puzzled look on my face and then I started to smile. I couldn't help it, I am not a good liar. She looked at me and said, "did you mow my yard"? I was like, "umm yes ma'am I sure did". She tried to hand me $ and I was not going to take it. After a few minutes of "nicely" arguing about the $, she threw it in my flower pot and walked back over to her house. She let me know that day I was not working for free.
Let me tell you, she is my new best friend. Since then, I have mowed her yard several times, mowed one of her rent houses twice, we go to Wal-mart, we go to the Dollar General, we also go to Lowe's. (She can't drive so she either calls a taxi or I take her places, her husband died several years ago and her daughter had a stroke and she is in a home 3 hours away.) We also go out to eat---often!! She reminds me so much of my grandparents and great grandparents. She and her husband used to have a farm and she is a go getter. When I say farm, I mean farm. They had chickens, goats, pigs, horses, cows, ducks, dogs, and probably cats too. I have heard some stories!
Here are SOME of the things I have learned from Mrs. Lucille:
1. Soap is dish washing liquid, not Ivory
2. Milk is not just milk...there is sweet milk and butter milk
3. Older people sometimes call everyone 30 and younger "kid" (just like my papaw did)
4. It is possible to eat most foods with no teeth.
5. You can get a senior citizens discount almost anywhere! (which is good)
She is so much fun! The sad thing is, I do not like our house and when our lease is up we will probably move. (again) We move a lot, for those of you who don't know. I can't seem to be satisfied. We have lived in apartments since I can remember, which is fine with me. But our last apt. was brand new, but too small. So I get the bright idea to rent a house. Well guess what comes with that???? Bigger place--more to clean, bigger yard--mow it yourself, older house--water leaks and unlevel floors. It has all hard wood floors, which were so beautiful until I moved in and experienced the dirt that just lays on them. We don't have a vacuum that can get the floors good, so I have to sweep. (I know you are thinking, why doesn't she get one of those swifter things.) Well guess what, back to my unlevel floors and old house. When you use a swifter, it just doesn't work. The dirt fills the cracks up or half of it stays behind when the floor decides to be unlevel. All of the floors aren't old, some of them are new and don't have cracks. I swift some and sweep some, but I really miss vacuuming. Enough about my house, I could gripe about it all night long. It is just about time to get ready for the party!:) peace
